Emily here – When my husband and I first moved to Philadelphia from Brooklyn, one of the first things that I noticed was how much more wall space I now had to fill as we upgraded from our 1-bedroom 1-bathroom apartment to a 3-story townhome. While this might seem like a high-class problem, I was definitely not working with a high-class budget and we already had a million other expenses to prioritize. However, there were two things I knew I didn’t want to do:

1. Thoughtlessly buy cheap art to fill the walls fast
2. Wait an eternity to afford the art I wanted

I took a lot of different directions when getting decor on our walls. But for my living room, I knew I wanted one big piece to make a statement. 

Enter: Juniper Print Shop. I had already bookmarked their site a while back because I loved that they have a wide variety of beautiful prints created by independent artists, in all sorts of styles. What caught my eye for this particular project was that they offered large scale prints, specifically to fit IKEA’s BJÖRKSTA canvas frames. And guess what? These prints won’t hurt your wallet like an original piece or custom framing might.

The Frame

They come in a range of sizes, but I opted for the 40×55 print so I got the 39.25×55 frame. When you’re picking out your print and frame, make sure to measure the area where you want to hang it to make sure you get the right size. You can also decide between two different mounting methods – either with the frame showing to have a large scale framed/polished look, or wrapping the print around the frame for a canvas look. Depending on which size you need the color choices might be limited, but you can always go even more custom and paint the frame to your liking! And the best part? They’re super easy to assemble, so you won’t need a PhD in art framing to get your new piece up on the wall. There’s even a tutorial video here.

The Print

I was drawn to Juniper Print Shop because of the affordable price and the convenience of having a large image printed without any guesswork. But once I received my print, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The image is stunning and rich, almost like a real painting even when viewed up close. The paper is thick and durable, so you don’t have to worry about damaging it while framing. The Final Product

I love how my oversized art came out! The print now lives over our couch (it was originally in my office that has since become our nursery) and it really makes the space feel polished and cohesive. I went with the Garden Roses print but below I’ve listed some of my favorite prints from Juniper Print Shop (that come in many sizes!).
